Communicating in a Post-Verbal World

How are Snapchat, Instagram and the emoji affecting the way we communicate? This talk investigates…

What to expect

Visual social networks like Instagram and snapchat, have radically shaped the ways in which we communicate. What’s more, the enormous popularity of the emoji, used in texts and social media, has meant that people now rely increasingly on ideograms to reflect emotional states. But how are these new visual vocabularies affecting language?

This talk brings together leading experts in the field of social media, network communications, design and technology to discuss the impact of visual communicative technologies on language and the way we interact.

Are these tools enhancing the way in which we connect with each other? Or are we in fact more disconnected than ever before?
