Material Innovation

Land Rover and the Design Museum present Material Innovation, an installation commemorating 70 years of the Land Rover brand. The atrium seats have been re-upholstered with original materials used in Land Rover vehicles from 1948 to 2018.

What to expect

The 18 cushions for the atrium seats have been arranged chronologically. They range from the original fabric used in the first Land Rover (1948) and the fabric designed in collaboration with Paul Smith for its special edition Land Rover Defender (2015), to an innovative material developed by Kvadrat for the Range Rover Velar (2017). You are invited to discover and experience the different qualities of these authentic fabrics.
