Freelance Workshop Facilitator: Young Audience Programme

The Design Museum is looking to build a pool of freelancers with facilitation and creative industry experience. The role will require freelancers to plan and deliver a series of half-day creative ‘masterclass’ workshops for families (with children aged 7-11 years) and young people (aged 12-16 years), inspired by the museum collection, exhibitions and informed by contemporary design practice.

The three hour masterclasses will be held throughout the year on the last Sunday of every month. There is also scope for additional commissions to develop and deliver further holiday and weekend activities within the programme portfolio.

Total fee: £1380, this fee includes a minimum of 8 days total to include 3 x half days of session delivery plus planning, preparation and any expenses

Assistant curator

The Design Museum is seeking a self-motivated Assistant Curator who is passionate and knowledgeable about design to join the Curatorial team. The successful candidate will play a key role assisting the curators to research and deliver exhibitions at the museum. This role will suit an individual with a good knowledge of design history and experience researching and developing projects collaboratively.

The role will involve assisting the curators with major exhibitions and taking the lead on smaller displays. Working primarily with one curator at a time, the assistant will also take curatorial responsibility for ancillary displays around the museum and for updating the permanent collection display. The role combines curatorial and administrative support, with the opportunity to take personal initiative and develop a curatorial voice.

Salary: up to £22,000 per annum, dependant on experience

Head of Finance

The Design Museum is seeking a Head of Finance who is responsible for maintaining robust financial controls, efficient financial processing, accurate financial reporting, proactive cash management, insightful financial analysis, and strong management of tax liabilities. The Head of Finance will lead on the annual cycle of planning, budgeting and forecasting and will support the senior leadership team by monitoring and reporting progress against the museum’s business plan and providing strategic financial advice as required.

Salary: competitive
Holidays: 25 days per annum
Hours: full-time, 40 hours per week

The Design Museum is seeking a Gallery Technician, who will work with the Exhibitions team to ensure the smooth delivery, de-installation and maintenance of all the Design Museum’s exhibitions. Reporting to the Exhibitions Project Manager, this role helps to maintain the galleries, workshops and storage spaces, contributes to the coordination of exhibition installations and de-installations, and assists in other areas such as the preparation of exhibitions for tour.

Salary: up to £20,800 per annum dependent on experience
Holidays: 20 days per annum, plus 6.5 days bank holiday
Hours: part-time, 32 hours per week, 4 days per week to include weekends
